The Westland Lysander was a "short take-off and landing" (STOL) machine, and was much used in a clandestine role during World War II, for example picking up and dropping off secret agents, and carrying out supply drops to resistance groups in enemy-occupied territory.

The Lysander's major specifications were::

    Engine: 905 hp Bristol Pegasus
